International Dinosaur Month

Who knew October was International Dinosaur Month? I was pretty surprised myself. I thought we'd embrace the month by visiting the dinosaur exhibit at the Museum of Natural History. There's also a great exhibit at Thanksgiving Point. I chose the Museum because its free the first Monday of every month! I love FREE!

We'll also be embracing the dinosaurs by reading the 'How Do Dinosaurs' books. I'm pretty sure my little guy can recite them from memory. We love those books!

Days of '47

I want to go to Salt Lake on Pioneer Day for the Days of '47 parade, so I was looking into it to find out what kinds of things would be going on.

Guess what?! There is a Youth Festival going on...TOMORROW! Don't miss it if you can help it! It looks like so much fun for the little kids, and there is NO admission fee! There will be a parade followed by games, face painting, balloon art, crafts, and lots more.

To find out more details, go here.

ABC.. . .123

No, I'm not referring to a song by the Jackson 5. I'm referring to Just Something I Made. I love Cathe. She's so creative and she shares her ideas freely. She always has great tutorials and lots of fun free downloads. I'm so excited about the cute things she's posted recently. Go to her site to get this counting page from a children's encyclopedia along with one of the alphabet.
She also has a cute elephant frame and some wonderful vintage graphics, which I think might be my favorite. Perfect for a nursery. I haven't decided what to do with them but I might frame and hang them by my two year old's bed.
He's on the bottom bunk. And he's got a nice clean, empty wall (other than his ladybug nightlight) by his bed, ready for decorating.

Fee Free Weekends! -PETUNIA

Glacier National Park

This summer over 100 national parks are participating in Fee Free Weekends! They are waiving the entrance fees. There are still fees for camping, concessions and other things, but the entrance fee is gone!

The three weekends are:
June 20-21
July 18-19
August 15-16

We've been wanting to plan a trip to Yellowstone for a long time. I think we're going to try and make one of these weekends work!

Go here to check it out and get more information. And go here to see which parks in your state are free these weekends.

National Doughnut Day! -PETUNIA

Okay, so this is again about my fascination with free things, and more specifically food! Today is national doughnut day, and in honor of the day Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts are giving away free doughnuts all day! I don't have either of those near me, so I hope you all participate since I can't. YUM!!

ps Poppy has two great posts below this one that I don't want you to miss out on. Scroll down and check them out!

Cheap Date

I love to get my kids out of the house, but sometimes its hard to find places to go that don't cost an arm and a leg. That's why I'm always on the lookout for something free. Here it is! The Utah Museum of Natural History has Free Family Mondays! Go to their site to find out about the exhibits, and how to get free parking too! umnh.utah.edu

I haven't had a chance to get down there yet, but I'm really excited to checkout the frog exhibit. Hopefully I'll make it down there tomorrow! If you don't live near Salt Lake, let us know where you are and we'll see what we can find for you.
